Coverage
We came, we saw, we
report
Traveling Valentine attends
various conventions, cosplay gatherings, community events,
and miscelleneous friendly get-togethers. We take pride
in summarizing what happened and hopefully getting people
interested in joining the fun next time.
2010 Fear and
Loathing Tour:
Fear and Loathing at...
Treasure
Island Cosplay Picnic (June 12th; Treasure island, CA):
A chance
to try out the handcannon and dual-wielding pink cameras.
Fanime 2010
Okage
Sama De~ Cosplay Tea (March 27th; Santa Clara, CA):
Finally,
a chance to relax and be pampered by some handsome high
school boys of an elite school. I got to love twins.
Asahi-Con
(March 20th; Antioch, CA): No
drugs, no guns, no alcohol, and no violence allowed
in high school. I wish drama were banned as well. The
first apperance of the Hunter S. Thompson costume.
AOD
(January 30th-31st; San Francisco, CA): Dealing
with a first ever family reunion, my first speaking
engagement, and a new drinking buddy, it is amazing
that I did not kill anyone or spend half the convention
trying to flee bat country.
SacAnime
(January 8th-10th; Sacramento, CA): Newly
contracted with a writing position that now pretty
much pays me to attend conventions, I make a return
trip hoping for an improvment from the last SacAnime
but expecting hell and drama.
2009 Tour:
Dickens
Fair (December 5th & 20th; Daly City, CA): Immersing
myself in the Victorian era that feels straight out
of some Christmas novel I probably should have read.
Nor-Cal
Christmas Gathering (December 12th; San Francisco, CA):
When rain
causes a potential civil war among cosplayers, the demonic
presence of Chzo is suspected. All that was recorded
can be found in Trilby's Notes.
PEERS
Le Bal des Vampires (November 7th, 2009; San Mateo,
CA): Three floors, two dance floors, and
two bars. Get your dancing on and meet some new people.
Yaoi-Con
(October 30th-31st; San Mateo, CA): What
happens at Yaoi-Con stays at Yaoi-Con. I wonder why
I spent $35 on a convention focused on a topic that
does not interest me. At least this exclusive article
helped pay for the convention.
NorCal
Fall Cosplay Photoshoot Gathering (October 17th; Los
Gatos, CA): A
day full of cosplayers, photos, and fun for only $20.
Anime
Destiny (October 10th; Berkeley, CA): Small
one day conventions pack a wallop for cosplayers.
SiliCon
(October 2nd-4th; San Jose, CA): Photo
gallery of the little sci-fi convention full of educational
experiences and debates.
LovEvolution
(October 3rd; San Francisco, CA): Ten
hits the streets of San Francisco and its raving mobs
of ravers.
Spirit
of Japantown (September 26th; San Jose, CA): San
Jose Japantown is swinging with street vendors, but
I spending the day with the maids of the Fanimaid Cafe.
Sac-Anime
(August 29th-30th; Sacramento, CA): The
trial by fire debut of the full Traveling Valentine
crew. Will we work well together or have a meltdown
worthy of a reality television show? And who is the
foxy lady with the really deep voice?
Zombie-O-Rama
2009 (August 26th; San Jose, CA): There
are zombies on your lawn thanks to downtown San Jose
and the outdoor showing of Shaun of the Dead.
Nor-Cal
Summer Gathering (August 15th; San Jose, CA):
Cosplayers enjoy each other's company and scenery at
Kelley Park. Meanwhile, Michael goes in for his first
unsupervised field assignment.
Okage-Sama
De~ Cosplay Tea (August 8th; San Jose, CA):
The summer version of the intimate Okage-Sama De~ informal
cosplay tea party is an opportunity to road test the
team and possibly scare off a relative or two.
Anime
Expo (July 2nd-5th; Los Angeles, CA): A
solitary figure returns to southern California with
a fresh start while armed with new credentials and a
new field HQ.
BotCon
(May 29th-31st; Pasadena, CA): At
the risk of sounding cliche, this convention dedicated
to Transformers was more than meets the eye.
Fanime
(May 22nd-25th; San Jose, CA): The
greatest anime convention in the Bay Area continues
to be full of dance, magic, and memories.
Saturday
May Trifecta (May 2nd, 2009; San Jose & San Mateo,
CA): A flashback to Idiot Man-Children
misadventures followed with a BJD tea party, free frozen
yogurt, and the May PEERS event.
NorCal
Cherry Blossom Festival Parade (April 19th, 2009; San
Francisco, CA): The heat is on and the
pressure's high just to stay alive

Girl Genius Steampunk Ball (April 4th, 2009;
San Mateo, CA): Two wild and crazy Asian
guys swing over to the monthly PEERS costumed ball.
Okage-Sama
De~ Tea Party (March 28th, 2009; Santa Clara, CA):
The little cosplay event that felt like a con but thankfully
was not.
Spring
NorCal Cosplay Gathering (March 14th, 2009; Saratoga,
CA): Seven Samurai or Shinigami invade
the Hakone Gardens.
WonderCon
(February 27th-March 1st, 2009; San Francisco, CA):
Traveling Valentine decides to Stop Making Sense.
Animation
on Display (February 14th-15th, 2009; San Francisco,

Right... or Miss Right Now.
